VIOLIN CONCERTOS (2009)

With this CD I am returning to the realm of classical music, even though...In Korngold´s violin concerto, it is impossible to overhear the composer's long engagement with film music.  The fact that the music is so straightforward and graphic may be the reason why it is so popular among the world´s best violinists. On the contrary, Richard Strauss´s Concerto in D minor, Op. 8 is not played very frequently anymore. This composition carries lyric and tragic elements, luminous cantilena, melancholy and elegance...but also quite a few pitfalls which lay considareble demands on the soloist's technique.
